Mum-of-three, 52, died after being hit by van on busy motorway after she left her crashed car

A MUM killed by a van after she crashed her car on the motorway took her own life, an inquest heard.

Lisa Kelsall, 52, had left her Vauxhall Mokka after it overturned on a slip road between the M6 and M62 in Cheshire.

She was then struck by a van – suffering multiple injuries – before being declared dead at the scene.

Cheshire Police initially arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the April 9 horror.

A coroner has now ruled mum-of-three Lisa took her own life, Stoke Sentinel reports.

The court was told Lisa had a history of mental health issues and was a domestic abuse survivor.

The gran-to-be, who also suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, had previously attempted to end her life.

On April 8, Lisa “expressed an intention” to take her own life and left her home in Norton, County Durham, the inquest heard.

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

Cheshire assistant coroner Charlotte Keighley said: “In the early hours of 9 April was seen driving erratically on the southbound carriageway of the M6 resulting in her car being involved in a collision, resting on its side in between lanes.

“Lisa got out of her vehicle. She was then struck by a Citroen Relay van knocking her to the floor causing unsurvivable injuries.”

In a statement released following her death, Lisa’s family said: “A loving daughter, mother and grandmother-to-be, taken too soon

“RIP Lisa Kelsall. Forever in our hearts.”
