But one expert has revealed some may have to change it up if they want to be in with a chance of scoring the jackpot.

After analysing all winning lottery tickets since 2015, BoyleSports claims it knows which to avoid.

The numbers drawn the least are 17, 48, 21, 6 and 30, research shows.

The number 30 and 6 have only appeared 83 times in the last nine years – 30s most recent appearance was Saturday, August 24.

While 6 was on September 4.

A BoyleSports spokesperson said: “While our study highlights the numbers that have appeared the least and most frequently in lottery draws since October 2015, it’s important to remember that every draw is completely independent.

“Each number has the exact same chance of being drawn, regardless of past outcomes.

The results from our analysis provide an interesting snapshot, but anything can happen in each new draw.”

Meanwhile, the luckiest numbers are 37, 52 and 58, 39, 42 and 27.

Numbers 37 and 52 come out top with 115 draws each.

Their last appearances were on September 7 and August 31.

Since its launch in 1994, the National Lottery has made over 6,800 millionaires with the largest jackpot of £66m 2016.

Thousands of tickets are bought each week for the lottery but after an extra number was added to the ticket, the chances of winning has reduced.

What was once a one in 7.5m chance of winning, has become one in 45m.

Although there is no real way of improving your odds, you can choose to stake less.

But maybe these statistics could be fun to test out.

It comes after a great-granddad came within inches of losing his lottery jackpot after chucking it to one side.

And a woman who won a sizeable £100,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery revealed she wouldn’t have won anything without a chat with her husband’s ex-wife.
