Max Verstappen Picks Up First F1 Win In Over 4 Months, Alpine Drivers Notch First Podiums of 2024
It was quite the day at the 2024 Sao Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix on Sunday (November 3) at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil.
Starting with an early morning qualifying session and followed by the grand prix later in the day, F1 saw it’s first super Sunday in years which ended with Max Verstappen back on the top step, followed, surprisingly, by both Alpine drivers, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.
This is Max‘s first grand prix win since the end of June in Spain, while this is the highest position for the Alpine drivers, as they have not reached higher than eighth all season.

Max‘s first place win was crucial in his fight for the drivers championship, and extended his lead over Lando Norris to 62 points.
Esteban and Pierre‘s placements also catapulted their team’s placement in the constructor standings to sixth, surpassing Haas and VCARB.
“My emotions today have been a rollercoaster,” Max shared after the race. “You know, with qualifying, being really unlucky with that red flag and starting P17, I knew that it was going to be a very tough race.”
“But we stayed out of trouble, we made the right calls, we stayed calm and we were fine. All of these things together of course made that result possible. I mean, unbelievable to win here from so far back,” he continued. “We made all the right calls again, stayed calm, and executed when we needed to, so incredibly happy with today. Honestly, it’s crazy. I never expected to go from P17 to P1. I was hoping for good points, but this is absolutely crazy.”
