Macomb County is a purple district in a purple state—and it’s a microcosm of the U.S.

As Christina Hines approached a house with a Trump yard sign in Macomb County, Michigan, the owner called out to ask if she was knocking on doors for Harris. She was, but also for herself: Hines is a Democrat running for county prosecutor against the Republican incumbent. The woman perked up, saying she’d already voted for Hines, and was convincing her entire block to do so.
