Stock market today: Wall Street ticks higher on Election Day
U.S. stock indexes are ticking higher as voters head to the polls on the last day of the presidential election. The S&P 500 rose 0.4% in early Tuesday trading and was inching closer to its record set last month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 66 points, and the Nasdaq composite gained 0.6%. Excitement about the artificial-intelligence boom helped lift Wall Street, as it has for much of the last year. Software company Palantir Technologies jumped after delivering bigger profit than analysts expected for the latest quarter amid what it called unrelenting demand. Treasury yields edged higher in the bond market.
