Fashion fans are going wild for £39 M&S’ latest ‘cool girl’ trousers that ‘are smarter than jeans but comfier and warmer

EACH season brings with it new trends and this autumn people are rushing to buy a throwback fashion staple.

While you might associate corduroy trousers with your dad’s 70s style, they’re back and the perfect thing to keep you warm but looking cool.

The trend is everywhere right now and celebs including Dakota Fanning and Gwyneth Paltrow have been spotted donning a pair as part of a laidback look.

Don’t worry though, you don’t have to dust off your dad’s cord trousers or spend celebrity prices to make the most of this trend, just nip down to Marks & Spencer and pick up their latest ‘cool girl’ pair.

Priced at just £39.50, the Cord Wide Leg Trousers come in four different colours and they’re perfect for autumn dressing.

The dark brown Bitter Chocolate pair are perfect if your want to lean into the 70s trend of it all, or go for the classic black for a slightly more timeless look.

They’re also available in a Copper Tan colour, Navy, and even a burgundy Dark Claret shade that screams autumn.

As M&S fans will know, their trousers not only come in sizes 6 – 24, but you can also choose between short, regular and long so you can get the perfect fit.

“These cotton-rich cords are crafted with added stretch for comfortable wear,” the product description reads online.

“High-waisted, wide-leg style, with a button and zip fastening. Belt loops and a five-pocket design complete the look.”

But don’t take M&S’ word for it, the trendy trousers already have hundreds of reviews from happy shoppers who can’t get enough of the cord revival.

With an average rating of 4.8 stars out of a possible five, it’s clear they’re loved by fashion fanatics for a reason.

One said: “Fits perfectly and just right for a casual, smart evening outing in the autumn. Very comfortable, better than thin straight trousers or jeans.”

And a second agreed the trousers are a must-have for autumn and winter, they said: “I am a great fan of the Wide Leg Jean, having three pairs. So when they came out in cord, I jumped.

That said, the shopper did note that the jeans “come up bigger and a bit shorter their denim counterparts, but are easy to wear.”

“Love these cords. Very comfortable. Was hard to get as selling fast online. If between sizes go down size. Cord stretches,” another wrote.

Meanwhile, someone else raved: “Superb, length (regular), colour and shape. Will be buying in other colours!”
