Celebrities Are Processing a Second Trump Presidency
After Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, a certain set of liberal-leaning celebrities rallied around Vice-President Kamala Harris — posting selfies, door-knocking, and performing at her rallies. Following the devastation of Donald Trump’s comeback victory, athletes, rappers, and actors are posting through it. Here’s how everyone from Simone Biles to Cardi B and Billie Eilish are processing their grief.

After throwing her support behind Harris and appearing at a rally on her behalf, Cardi B shared an Instagram video with the caption: “I hate y’all bad.” When asked on Instagram Live if she might appear at Trump’s inauguration, she added: “I’m sick of you! Burn your fucking hats, motherfucker. I’m really sad. I swear to God I’m really sad.”

“I hope we can be a moment of peace for you and a moment of safety. Sorry about our country and to the women in here, I love you so so so so so much.” pic.twitter.com/OaUDOwp5xp
In the weeks leading up to the election, the singer abstained from endorsing either candidate (though she signed up a horde of first-time voters). But during a show following Trump’s victory, she told the crowd: “I hope we can be a moment of peace for you and a moment of safety.” She continued, “Sorry about our country and to the women in here, I love you so so so so so much.”
Ziwe
The comedian posted an old sketch from her show burying women’s rights with the caption, “men’s rights are human rights (as we prophesied……).” “I love men!” she says laughing, while shoveling dirt into her grave. “I say that because I’m afraid for my life!”
LeBron James
Ariana Grande
In an Instagram Story, the soon-to-be Glinda wrote that she’s “holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today.” Good witch behavior, indeed.
Billie Eilish

The singer called Trump’s victory “a war on women.” At a concert in Nashville on Wednesday, she added, “Someone who hates women so, so deeply is about to be the president.”
Lili Reinhart
I cannot fathom the feeling of the women who came forward about their sexual assault at the hands of Trump. Seeing millions of people vote for their abuser.
— Lili Reinhart (@lilireinhart) November 6, 2024
My heart absolutely breaks for these women. I believe you, and I am so sorry.
E. Jean Carroll
I tried to tell you.
— E. Jean Carroll (@ejeancarroll) November 6, 2024
Last year, Trump was found liable for sexually abusing the writer E. Jean Carroll in a New York department store in the ’90s. In response to his victory, she wrote: “I tried to tell you.”
Viola Davis
Jon Stewart
Leave it to Daily Show host Stewart to find humor and hope in the wake of the election. He urged Harris supporters to “continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out to create the better society for our children, for this world, for this country that we know is possible.”
Jamie Lee Curtis
Christina Applegate
Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why?And if you disagree , please unfollow me.

Stephen King
There's a sign you can see in many shops that sell beautiful but fragile items: LOVELY TO LOOK AT, DELIGHTFUL TO HOLD, BUT ONCE YOU BREAK IT, THEN IT'S SOLD.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) November 6, 2024
You can say the same about democracy.
Hilary Duff, Jessica Alba, and Kendall Jenner
The actresses and model all reposted a graphic calling women the “heartbeat of progress.” Alba had endorsed Harris prior to the election, appearing at a rally on behalf of the VP. Neither Jenner nor Duff made an official endorsement prior to voting, but Duff liked both Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s Instagram posts announcing their support for Harris.
Whoopi Goldberg

Yvette Nicole Brown
Yep. And many of us sounded the alarm. But they wanted their orange king.
— yvette nicole brown (@YNB) November 6, 2024
Well, they've got him. America is done. But they got their orange king. Yay! https://t.co/oDUVe92g1a
Bette Midler
Lol. This is funny. Bette Midler promised to drink Drano today. Now she's deleted her X account. pic.twitter.com/I3ARojjTcA
— Tom Odell (@TomOdell) November 6, 2024
On Wednesday, the actress reportedly posted a photo joking that she’d drink a bottle of Drano if Trump won. After his victory, she shared a quote about men who are “intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre” and then deactivated her X account. I hear staying offline is good for the soul right now, anyway.
