American Freight to close all locations, including Lafayette
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- A furniture company is closing all locations, including one in Lafayette.
According to documents filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, American Freight will close all locations following a move by parent company, Franchise Group, to file bankruptcy protection.
The store's website shows the following Louisiana locations:
- 2001 NW Evangeline Thruway, Lafayette
- 8560 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge
- 10076 Crossing Way, Denham Springs
- 3409 North I-10 Service Road, Metairie
"The debtors concluded that American Freight’s limited amount of profitable store locations could not support the rightsizing of its business through a plan of reorganization," said David Orlofsky, chief restructuring officer for Franchise Group.
Franchise Group is also the parent company of Buddy's Home Furnishings, Pet Supplies Plus and The Vitamin Shoppe. Andrew Laurence, president and CEO of Franchise Group said his company will focus on the three remaining.
"Each of these businesses has a demonstrated value proposition and provides great products and services to customers, which they will continue to do seamlessly during this process," said Laurence.
Closing sales were expected to begin Nov. 5.
