Chicago Bears Offensive Line Gets Some Mercifully Good Injury News

The Chicago Bears offensive line has been besieged by injuries over the past couple of weeks, exposing Caleb Williams to even further punishment. He was sacked six times in Arizona, nearly matching the season-high seven he took in Houston. The Bears can’t let this continue if they don’t want to see their prized young QB ruined. Thankfully, it looks as if they have some help on the way. While right tackle Darnell Wright remains out of practice with a knee injury, two other prominent names were back at practice.

One was Ryan Bates. The trade acquisition had been out since the beginning of the season with a shoulder injury. He practiced in full on Thursday, putting him on track to be activated for the New England Patriots game. More importantly, left tackle Braxton Jones returned to practice on a limited basis, offering hope he can return as well.

The Chicago Bears offensive line has some questions to answer.

First and foremost is what they plan to do at right tackle. Presuming Wright is out, and it’s looking that way, they don’t have many options to replace him. The most likely is shifting Larry Borom over from the left side. He has some experience playing right tackle. Kiran Amegadjie is still out with a calf injury. The other options would be moving Matt Pryor out from right guard. He has tackle experience as well. Or they could try going with Jake Curhan again.

He replaced Wright last Sunday after he went down.

The next question is whether they look to get Bates in the game. If so, will it be at right guard or center? It is believed the plan was for him to play center before Nate Davis got hurt in training camp. Maybe they plug him in there to get more size and power in the middle. It will be interesting to see what the Chicago Bears offensive line looks like on Sunday.
