My answer is 'the whole notion of accepting not winning, or a pre-conceived contrived set of results and outcomes, is the antithesis of sport and deprives us of all the drama, joy, emotion and pitfalls of supporting a football club and renders the whole thing utterly pointless'
So therefore if somebody said ‘I promise you Blues will win the champions league in 4 years time provided you sign here’, you’d decline using the saccharine justification above?
Yeah? Because what’s the point if you haven’t earned it ?
May as well say ‘we can give you the champions league trophy now.
