Yellow card update: One Spurs man is edging close to suspension
One Tottenham star is now just one yellow card away from a suspension while two more of his Spurs teammates are two cautions away from the same.
Premier League’s suspension rules
According to the rules, players who pick up five yellow cards in the first half of the season will be suspended for one Premier League game.
That means that anyone who reaches that tally before Gameweek 19 will have to sit out one match.
With another nine matches to go, one Tottenham man is under major risk of a suspension while another two are not far behind.
Yellow card status of the Spurs players
According to the Premier League’s official website, Micky van de Ven is the only Tottenham player with four yellow cards to his name.
That means that should he pick up a booking on or before Tottenham‘s clash against Wolves on December 29, he will have to miss one game.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentacnur and Dejan Kulusevski are both currently on three bookings while Yves Bissouma, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie have two each to their name.
Van de Ven is dangerously close
While Van de Van is currently out injured, he is expected to be back after the international break to take on Manchester City on November 23.
That means that he would have seven opportunities to potentially pick up a yellow, and given the number of times he has to defend one-v-one, it seems inevitable that he will pick up a suspension.
Thankfully for Ange Postecoglou, Radu Dragusin seems more than capable of stepping into the team if required – even if he did have a troublesome game against Galatasaray.
