Britney Spears Discusses Her Conservatorship In Previously Unreleased Interview Footage From 2016
Britney Spears opened up about her conservatorship years before the #FreeBritney movement in previously unseen interview footage from an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.
In 2016, the Princess of Pop appeared on the TV show to promote her new album Glory.
At the time, there were reports from guests in the audience that Britney discussed the conservatorship that she was under. However, that footage was not included in the interview that aired.
She even wrote about the situation in her 2023 memoir “The Woman in Me.” On Saturday (November 9), the previously unaired clip surfaced online.

The footage was shared by fans on YouTube. In it, Britney addressed the conservatorship while discussing how involved she was in the creation of her album.
“I just felt like a lot of things were planned for me to do. And, you know, being told what to do. And I was like, ‘For this one, I want to make it my baby, and I want to make it myself.’ And I was very strategic about the way I did it, and that’s why it means so much to me,” she said.
During the conversation, Britney was told that she seemed to be “in a really good place right now” and “pretty happy,” which she agreed with.
Britney was freed from her conservatorship in late 2021 after fans rallied around a movement that was referred to as #FreeBritney. See what the pop star said about the movement.
