Just a few months into Solanke‘s time at Tottenham, the club-record fee that the club spent on the striker is already looking like an astute piece of business.

One can certainly understand why the Englishman was Postecoglou‘s first choice in the summer as not only is he adept at finishing off chances inside the six-yard box, but he offers a lot out of possession, tirelessly pressing the opposition defenders and the goalkeeper for 90 minutes.

Few players in the Premier League work as hard as the Tottenham striker and he has now revealed why he is loving playing for the Lilywhites.

Solanke on playing for Postecoglou

Solanke confessed that Tottenham’s current set-up suits his attributes perfectly, confessing that it is a ‘joy’ to play for a side that creates so many chances.

The centre-forward revealed that Postecoglou does not put too much pressure on the attackers and allows them to express themselves on the pitch.

When asked what it is like to play for the Australian, Tottenham’s summer signing told Men in Blazers: “He’s a great manager, probably a bit like what Sonny said, that his passion for the game is incredible. The way he likes to play definitely suits me and other forward players.

“He doesn’t really put too much pressure on us other than just playing freely and having attacking football. Obviously, he likes us to press and work hard, so that’s an important side to the game as well. It’s a joy to play in the system.”

Solanke wants to win trophies

Solanke confessed that everyone at Spurs is desperate to be the team that ends Tottenham’s 16-year trophy drought. The England international confessed that he is now at a stage of his career where he wants to compete regularly for major honours.

When asked about his ambitions, the striker said: “I think the main thing for us is winning stuff. Over the last few years, that’s the missing piece for the club. It’s a great club and everyone knows how big of a club it is.

“But I think we need to be winning stuff now and that’s something I want to be part of, something that the gaffer wants to be part of as well, and and I’m sure everyone in the club wants to be a part of. So we’re all on the same wavelength to try and make that happen and hopefully, we can do that as soon as possible.

“For myself [on a personal level], it’s just the same. Try to score as many goals as I can to help the team win stuff. I think I’m at that point in my career where everyone wants to win stuff, and that’s what you play football for. So that’s the main thing on my mind.”
