Warning shots fired as Paphos man arrested for alleged kidnapping
Police in Paphos fired warning shots on Monday night as a 41-year-old man attempted to escape being arrested for a suspected kidnapping.
The police believe the man may be connected to a kidnapping and other similar crimes which were committed between October 4 and October 6, and received information on Monday that the man was seen getting into a car in Paphos.
When the police found the car, they found two people in it, neither of whom could provide any documents to prove their identities.
As such, they were both arrested, though both tried to escape, and were as such re-arrested for resisting arrest. At the police station, it was determined that they are males aged 27 and 21 years old, and they remain in custody.
As the police’s investigation continued, a patrol car located the wanted 41-year-old walking through Paphos.
He then noticed them and ran away, with the police giving chase. Warning shots were fired, and they eventually successfully arrested him.
He then underwent a search, and a small amount of cocaine was found in his possession.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
