Delhi Capitals name Munaf Patel as bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025 Auction
New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have appointed former Indian fast bowler Munaf Patel as their bowling coach for the IPL 2025 season, with new head coach Hemang Badani counting on Munaf’s experience to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025 mega auction.
Munaf Patel, 41, a former India pacer and 2011 World Cup winner, played in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Lions, taking 74 wickets in 63 innings.
The Delhi Capitals missed out on playoff qualification last season with only seven wins in 14 games, leading the franchise to replace head coach Ricky Ponting and his staff in July with former Indian cricketer Hemang Badani.
Venugopal Rao has taken over as the new IPL Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, replacing Sourav Ganguly, who will now lead Delhi’s WPL team in 2025. Additionally, Delhi released captain and star player Rishabh Pant ahead of the 2025 mega auction.
Delhi Capitals have retained key players Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abishek Porel, heading into the 2025 mega auction with a substantial purse of ₹73 crore.
