'He's arguing over a refrigerator': Anderson Cooper slams Giuliani's 'pathetic' fight
The fall of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani took new heights on Friday after reports surfaced that his new attorneys launched a legal battle over a refrigerator caught up in his $148 million judgment for defamation.
And the reality that Giuliani, a one-time federal prosecutor who rose to fame as “America’s mayor” after 9/11, is fighting over an appliance seemed to fascinate and concern CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.
“What’s so great about the refrigerator?” Cooper asked during a discussion on the day Giuliani's attorney said he relinquished luxury personal items that he was ordered to give to two former Georgia election workers.
Kara Scannell, a CNN correspondent, told Cooper that under the law, Giuliani is allowed to retain possession of certain assets considered personal items, which could include a refrigerator that was in his Manhattan penthouse apartment which she noted is in the process of being transferred to satisfy the judgment.
But, Scannell added, “to get to $150 million seems impossible.”

"I mean, it's thin gruel,” Cooper said. “If he's arguing over a refrigerator..." The host then expressed to guest Jeffrey Toobin how he felt about the situation.
“It's incredible to me, Jeff. I mean, he used to be the system, and now, according to this judge, he's trying to game the system,” Cooper said, adding, “It's just pathetic.”
Toobin agreed, calling Giuliani’s political and personal descent “one of the amazing stories of the past two, two decades.”
“You know, this was a very serious candidate for president in 2008, leading in the polls, and the collapse of his life as a result of his association with Donald Trump is so epic that it really dwarfs fiction.”
