Portland man stabbed with broken bottle at local bar dies
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The man who was stabbed in the neck with broken glass at a Portland bar on Friday night died from his injuries, Portland police announced Monday afternoon.
Authorities say that the victim of the attack, Samuel Van Dyke, 31, died via homicide.
After the assault, Abraham Bravo, 28 was arrested and initially charged with second-degree assault. Since Van Dyke's death, those charged have now been changed to first-degree manslaughter and first-degree assault.
The incident took place just before midnight Friday night at a bar near 2600 NE Sandy Boulevard.
"When (police) arrived they found an adult male with serious wounds to his neck. While officers tended to the victim, other officers gathered suspect information. They learned the suspect had just left the bar," officials said.
The suspect, later identified as Bravo, was spotted about two blocks west of the bar and placed under arrest.
Witnesses to the incident may have left the bar before police arrived. Investigators continue to look into the case and anyone with information is asked to call Portland police.
