'I’m sick of this': Mother says her teen daughter is brain dead after shooting
OPELOUSAS, La. (KFLY) -- Lashonda Lafleur, the mother of a 17-year-old girl who was shot earlier this month, is urging for something to be done about the gun violence in Opelousas, saying her daughter is now brain dead.
“Something needs to be done. I’m sick of this. I’m sick of it," Lafleur said.
Lafleur said she has been visiting her daughter, Davasha Robertson, in the hospital after Robertson was the victim of gun violence on Kim Drive earlier this month.
“Without this machine, she is not breathing on her own,” she said.
Robertson was in a car with several other people when the shooting occurred. Lafleur said her daughter was shot in the back of her head and shoulder.
Danger Johnson was arrested in connection with the shooting and faces four counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Lafleur said there are more people involved in her daughter’s case and need to be held responsible.
“It’s all types of stories to this. It’s all types of roles being played and nobody taking up for what the hell they did. Everybody is playing victim now but ain’t nobody was a victim then. Everybody was laughing and joking. Now the gun ended up being fired, now no one knows what happened and it got five people in the car,” she said.
The Opelousas Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call the office or St. Landry Parish CrimeStoppers at 337-948-8477 (TIPS).
