USA 23U Elite Defeat Caballos/IMUA Behind Strong Performance From Cody Gibbons, 3-Run Homer and 10K, 2-hitter

Cody Gibbons struck out 10 batters as the hurler led AMIGOS – USA 23U Elite past AMIGOS – Caballos/IMUA 5-1 on Sunday. Gibbons allowed two hits and one run over seven innings while walking one.
USA 23U Elite were the first to get on the board in the first when Cody Gibbons homered to left field, scoring three runs.
AMIGOS – Caballos/IMUA scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by Emiliano Solario on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.
Marco Diaz stepped in the circle first for AMIGOS – Caballos/IMUA. The starter allowed six hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
Cody Gibbons provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led USA 23U Elite with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Parker Hopkins led USA 23U Elite with two hits in three at bats. AMIGOS – USA 23U Elite didn’t commit a single error in the field. Parker Hopkins had the most chances in the field with 10.
Emiliano Solario went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Jordan Solorio and Emiliano Solario each collected one hit for AMIGOS – Caballos/IMUA.
