Reggie's Closet open to SUNY FMCC community

JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -In the Student Success area of the Fulton-Montgomery Community College library is a walk-in closet. It's the newest addition to the campus, expanding on the free services being offered.

"Before this room, the closet was actually a part of the pantry we have here on campus as well. We all saw that it was getting filled and filled with a lot of bags," explained Luis Maidonado, Leader of Reggie's Closet.

Named after the SUNY college's mascot, Reggie's Closet has more than 500 free items of clothing from baby sizes to 3XL. "Students just pop in and out to see the items because we are donation-based so items change really quickly."

There's a limit of 10 pieces a week that anyone in the FMCC community can take home for themselves or their family. If a need is still not met, employees like Maidonado recommend more resources. "If we see someone taking a lot of clothing, they may need extra help. So, we implore them to talk to us so we can get them into a local clothing bank.

From Monday to Friday, noon to 3 p.m., paid volunteers are ready to help. Anyone looking to donate can fill out this form. There will be a donation drive on December 10, 2024, in front of the Rao Theater during Winter Fest.
