ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Friday Junior! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says widespread rain with steadily falling temperatures will occur this Thursday. As it gets cold enough, those in the mountains could see a rain-snow mix and then accumulating snow by daybreak on Friday.

On this rainy day, the commute may be extra tough because we haven't had rain in so long. The buildup of oil and debris on the road can make for extra-slick road conditions.

The Great Barrington Brush Fire, also known as the Butternut Brush Fire, has burned an estimated 1,100 acres. Also, Guilderland Police are looking for a missing man who was last seen on November 12. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Thursday.

1. Great Barrington brush fire burns estimated 1,100 acres

Chief Fire Warden of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation Dave Celino and Great Barrington Fire Chief Scott Turner estimate the Butternut Brush Fire to have burned through just under 1,100 acres of land near Camp Eisner on Brookside Road. In a press conference on Wednesday, Celino said there’s no immediate threat to the public, and there’s no anticipated evacuation.

2. Guilderland PD searching for man last seen Nov. 12

The Guilderland Police Department is searching for a man who hasn’t been seen in over a week. Ershawn Chapman was last seen on November 12 on Carman Road in the town of Guilderland.

Ershawn is 23 years old, around 5’6″ and 180 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said he has a mental health history and may be in crisis.

3. Second Avenue Church that burned down hides a secret

There are new developments in the catastrophic fire that destroyed a historical church in Albany’s South End. 4. $1.5 Billion awarded to GlobalFoundries Expansion

GlobalFoundries, a semiconductor company, will be receiving $1.5 billion dollars from the Federal Government to expand its current facility and build a brand-new chip manufacturing plant at its Capital Region location.

5. Albany International Airport announces new nonstop service to Sarasota

Albany International Airport will now have nonstop flights to Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Florida through Allegiant Travel Company. The flight, taking travelers to the Florida Gulf Coast destination with beaches, entertainment, and attractions, will be about three hours long.
