North Columbus shooting ruled a homicide after victim dies three days later
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man who was shot in north Columbus and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries died Wednesday night and police have amended charges for a suspect in custody.
According to Columbus police, 24-year-old Darreion Davis died Wednesday at 6:43 p.m., three days after he was found shot in the 1900 block of Deborah Court in the Forest Park East neighborhood. Davis was taken to the hospital with “life-threatening” injuries, though investigators did not believe he would survive.
Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, homicide detectives arrived at the scene to investigate and Columbus police arrested 20-year-old Alise Schlaegel. She was taken to Franklin County Jail and charged with felonious assault. Thursday morning, police said an additional murder charge was filed against Schlaegel.
Schlaegel was issued a $500,000 bond in Franklin County Municipal Court Wednesday after she was charged with felonious assault. An arraignment date for the murder charge has not yet been set.
