GB name 12-man squad for sold out Greece game
Great Britain coach Marc Steutel has named his 12-man squad for tonight’s FIBA EuroBasket 2025 qualifier against Greece.
Facing off against the Greeks at a sold out Copper Box Arena tonight, the squad, as confirmed by FIBA, will be led by veteran trio Gabe Olaseni, Myles Hesson and Carl Wheatle, before heading to Greece for the return leg on Sunday.
“It’s always great to return to GB and continue to play with a great group of guys,” Olaseni told GB of coming into camp for this window.
“The mixture of veteran players and young talent makes me even more eager to get started with the team. Having a game back home in London will only make the experience more exciting.”
Currently, Great Britain heads to their two Group F encounters with a 1-1 record, beating the Netherlands in Newcastle in February, followed by a narrow loss to Czechia despite a near triple double from Carl Wheatle.
The 2025 EuroBasket qualifiers have been a breakout period for Akwasi Yeboah, cementing himself in the rotation with 17 against Netherlands and 12 against Czechia before fouling out – as he is included in the team once again versus Greece.
The game will also mark a return to GB for 21 year old top talent Quinn Ellis, who continues to shine for Trento in Italy and the Eurocup. Ellis dropped 22 points on Serbia in his last international outing in the February 2023 World Cup qualifying window as a 19 year old.
The squad also got together in the summer to take on South Sudan as part of their Olympic prep.
