Seth Lugo did not win the Cy Young.
Jac Caglianone is feeling himself after the conclusion of the Arizona Fall League:
Toss in the rigors of playing in the College World Series, preparing for the Draft with workouts and interviews, making his pro debut with High-A Quad Cities and then adding six weeks of Fall League ball on top of all of that, Caglianone had to be just plum exhausted, right?
“I’m honestly feeling great,” Caglianone said in an MLB Network interview during the AFL title game. “To kind of go [through] the whole Draft deal and go out to Quad Cities and meet a bunch of new people and to have the opportunity to be out here in the Fall League and meet such a great group of guys, it’s been awesome. It’s been a great year of baseball.”
The Arizona Fall League wrapped up play last weekend, with one regular season game and the championship game being played since last week’s update:
- Jac Caglianone started both games at first base, going 5-9 with a homer, a double, and a walk.
- Carter Jensen pinch hit in both games, going 0-1 with a walk.
- Brett Squires did not appear in a game this week.
- Daniel Vázquez started one game at second base, going 2-5.
- Luinder Avila pitched two scoreless innings in the championship game, walking and striking out a couple batters.
- Brandon Johnson, Chazz Martinez, Shane Panzini, and Anthony Simonelli did not pitch this week.
I will have a very in-depth breakdown of everybody’s AFL performances, complete with Statcast data, out in the near future.
Moving over to LIDOM:
- Tyler Tolbert appeared thrice off the bench, going 1-3 with a bases-clearing double and a stolen base. He is hitting .222/.282/.333 in 39 plate appearances.
- Andrew Hoffmann pitched four innings across two appearances, surrendering two runs and striking out six. He has a 4.66 ERA in 9.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
