- Left-handers Tarik Skubal of the Tigers and Chris Sale of the Braves were named the 2024 Cy Young award recipients. Logan Gilbert finished sixth in the voting, with no other Mariner receiving a top-5 vote.
- Illinois Senator Dick Durbin announced plans to introduce the Fair Ball Act, which, if passed, would entitle minor league ballplayers to minimum wage salaries and overtime pay in the absence of a collective bargaining agreement.
- At this week’s owners meetings, Rob Manfred said he expects Rōki Sasaki to sign after the January 15 window to maximize his earnings on the international amateur market.
