UPS Healthcare investing in two new solutions “to keep healthcare logistics moving seamlessly”
UPS Healthcare has expanded two solutions for high-value European shipments. UPS® Pickup Point locations for laboratory customers now include key European healthcare markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria, complementing the existing network in the U.K., Germany, Italy, France, and Spain.
This service – unique among logistics providers in Europe – creates a “many-to-one” reverse logistics solution that shows pickup confirmation and visibility of specimens, streamlining their shipment from multiple collection sites to a central lab. Expanded UPS® Pickup Point locations provide even more convenient connection points between collection sites and central labs, offering more efficient specimen pickup options.
UPS® Premier Platinum is now available across all of Europe. UPS® Premier Platinum provides real-time monitoring of temperature, light and humidity while tracking shipments in and out of the UPS network – this near real-time visibility enables quick recovery if packages encounter network delays, temperature deviations or other issues.
“As the demand for precision healthcare logistics grows we’re investing in leading solutions to simplify our customers’ supply chains so they can focus on what they do best. Every shipment counts and we can provide the quality, time and temperature management needed to keep healthcare logistics moving seamlessly,” said UPS Healthcare President, Global Logistics and Distribution, Felipe Morgulis.
UPS® Pickup Point simplifies the specimen logistics process for healthcare companies, enhancing reliability and control and streamlining the shipment of samples to central labs. UPS® Premier Platinum provides our highest form of robust tracking and temperature monitoring.
Customers can access a simple activation process, control tower monitoring and package intervention all in one scalable service offering. Both solutions mark another step in ongoing service and technology expansions to meet the evolving needs of critical time- and temperature-sensitive healthcare shippers.
The increasing demand for rapid clinical trials and new drug development makes laboratory logistics more complex than ever. Innovations in biologics, specialty pharmaceuticals and medications genetically personalized for each patient add to the complexity and the need for a specialized healthcare logistics provider that truly understands customers’ requirements.
UPS Healthcare brings customers a pan-European cold chain network, that seamlessly integrates with a globally connected, technology-enabled network. UPS® Pickup Point and UPS® Premier add innovative solutions to UPS’s full portfolio of end-to-end service capabilities.
