IND v AUS 1st Test: Nitish Kumar Reddy becomes most recent Indian to make Test debut with Perth Test
Young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was selected in the Indian playing XI for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series opener against Australia. This has made him one of the most recent Indian cricketer to have made his Test debut. 21-year-old Nitish made his debut under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, who is leading the Indian side in the absence of skipper Rohit Sharma.
When Indian side won the toss and opted to bat, Jasprit Bumrah surely spoke about how they are well prepared and are somewhat familiar with the conditions, but he specially spoke about how Nitish is making his debut.
“We are going to bat first, looks like a good wicket. Very confident with our preparation. We played a Test match here in 2018 so we know what to expect. The wicket gets quicker. Nitish makes his debut. We have 4 quicks and Washi(Washington Sundar) is the lone spinner,” Bumrah said as he announced Reddy’s debut.
At the time of writing this article, Indian team has already lost the crucial wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal on a duck, along with Virat Kohli for 5 runs.
