Queen Letizia Wears Heeled Loafers With Symbolic Tweed Jacket to Luis Carandell Journalism Awards

Queen Letizia of Spain looked refined at the Luis Carandell Journalism Awards in Madrid on Nov. 21 in a red tweed jacket and heeled loafers.

The longtime journalist opted to re-wear an item in her wardrobe of particular significance; the jacket was made by survivors of human trafficking who are a part of the fashion workshop belonging to the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration, and Care of Prostituted Women, a Spanish organization.

Queen Letizia visited the headquarters of the organization in June wearing the jacket, and on that occasion complemented it with a pair of black flats.

Designed with a chic red, white and black plaid pattern, the garment is collarless and features a high neckline in addition to fraying along its edges. The queen consort paired the jacket with black wide-leg trousers and stayed warm with a black cape-like coat. Allowing her jacket to be the pop of color in her ensemble, she carried a black Carolina Herrera purse as well.

Queen Letizia rounded out her ensemble with a pair of heeled loafers. In classic penny loafer fashion, the shoes featured an almond toe and a cutout on the upper where one might have tucked the eponymous coin in years past. Putting a spin on the traditional silhouette, the loafers were lifted by a block heel. Similar styles can be found from Marc Fisher, Theory and more brands at various price points.
