Stranger crept into family’s home as they slept and sexually assaulted boy, 10, after barricading him in bedroom

A STRANGER crept into a family home as they slept and sexually assaulted a ten-year-old boy in a horrifying attack.

Saqib Khan, 40, barricaded the terrified victim’s bedroom with a mattress so he could not escape.

He then sexually assaulted him and said he “loved him” before the boy screamed out.

His dad called 999 then ran out into the street in Huddersfield where he managed to flag down two passing police officers.

They burst into the bedroom and found Khan half naked, while the boy’s “hysterical” mum had collapsed.

The predator has now been jailed for six years with an extended licence period of four years after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a child under 13.

Sentencing, Judge Tom Bayliss said Khan was a “dangerous” offender who poses a high risk to the public and children.

He added: “One could only imagine the terror that family must have felt to find a stranger in their child’s bedroom.”

Leeds Crown Court heard the horror unfolded on April 20 this year as the family slept in their home.

Khan sneaked in during the dead of night to sexually assault the boy after drinking.

When the boy’s dad heard the commotion, the paedo told him he had “paid £40” and blocked him from entering.

The court heard Khan had previous convictions on his record dating back to August 2004.

As well as a jail sentence, he was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will have to sign the sex offender register for life.

Detective Inspector Tal Laher of Kirklees District Police Safeguarding Unit, said: “This has been a shocking offence in which Saqib Khan put his victim and parents through what would be any family’s worst nightmare.

“There is no doubt he is a highly dangerous sexual offender, and his offending could have been even worse had he not been restrained by two police constables who saw the child’s father on the street and intervened.

“Their swift action in detaining the male while also providing care and support to a distraught family should be commended.

“We hope seeing Khan jailed today will bring some measure of comfort to his victim and family and I want to praise them for their courage in supporting the prosecution.

“Sexual offences are always investigated by specially trained detectives and with the needs of victims at the heart of each and every investigation.”
