News and Notes for Friday, November 22nd, 2024

It’s been reported that the Guardians and Triston McKenzie have reached agreement on a contract for 2024:

There has been some speculation that the Guardians wouldn’t tender McKenzie, but he’s sticking around for now. He could get traded, of course, but, man, I hope he figures something out because I love watching him pitch. And, look at how happy he is in the photo with Bo Jackson accompanying this article.

Tonight, by 8pm EDT, the Guardians need to tender contracts to all their arbitration eligible players. Some idle speculation that they might let Nick Sandlin, Sam Hentges or Ben Lively find greener pastures elsewhere, but I’d bet all three end up getting tendered a deal today. It is possible that we will see a trade or two around baseball, however. One would imagine free agency will kick off in earnest after today... but who knows?

Tom Withers, AP writer for Cleveland, has his Hall of Fame Ballot:

Feel free to debate in the comments which players should make it. Things are slow.
