Jason Kelce Forgot to Pack His Clothes Again for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Jason Kelce had a pretty major announcement to make on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night, but first he had to explain why he was wearing a T-shirt that he got from a souvenir shop on Hollywood Boulevard.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center revealed that he'll be hosting a stint of late night shows for ESPN coinciding with the end of the regular NFL season in January. Walking out on the stage, Kelce appeared in a pink shirt boldly emblazoned with "Los Angeles, California" on the front.

"I like the shirt, you really look like a local," Kimmel quipped.

"That's what I was going for," Kelce said laughing, noting that he got it "from one of the gift shops outside." "I've made the mistake before of forgetting to pack, and I did not have a shirt that I really liked and I thought why not get something from one of the souvenir shops," he confessed.

When the host reminded Kelce that he had recently done the same on Monday Night Football—when he had to make his debut wearing an ill-fitting shirt that was way too small—he copped to the habit. "I've done this a bunch of times, I've forgotten my pants and blamed my wife, I've forgotten a shirt for Monday Night Football, or a whole suit ... packing is not my strength."

Kelce admitted that it was easier when he was still in the NFL. "I've also never had to worry about what I'm going to wear so I've never thought about it that much, and then I'm coming on wonderful shows like this and all of a sudden expect it to be a certain way," he continued, adding that he had an "incredible equipment staff" in the NFL "and those guys are always taking care of us."

On the plus side, Kelce won't have to pack for his new late night show, which will be filmed local in Philadelphia, where he still resides with his family.

"When I first approached ESPN with potentially working for them, Monday Night Football was a big part of that, Monday Night Countdown," the 37-year-old explained. "I thought about late night shows, I've always loved them, I remember sleepovers watching Conan O'Brien with my friends."

"And I think for me, the biggest thing players say they miss when they leave the sport is being around the guys, the locker room, the banter," he continued. "And being able to have the show where we're gonna have a bunch off guys up there, legends of the game, friends I've played the game with, coaches, celebrities, while also incorporating NFL Films, we have a live band, Snacktime, being able to play some of these iconic NFL songs ... it's gonna be a celebration."

They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce will film live at Philadelphia's Union Transfer and premiere on Jan. 3, 2025. The show will run for five weeks throughout the NFL Playoffs at 1 a.m. ET, with the fifth episode beginning at 1:30 a.m.
