Pride storm into final

Barbados Pride played their best game yet to march into tomorrow’s final where US$100 000 will be at stake, and Trinidad and Tobago their worst, when the arch-rivals met in the first semi-final of the CG United Super 50 tournament at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday.

Building on a firm foundation laid by openers Zachary McCaskie and Leniko Boucher, the Pride amassed 339-7, Barbados’ highest total in the history of the competition, before a clinical performance in the field enabled them to roll over the defending champions for 186 in 36.3 overs, to win by 153 runs.

The right-handed opening pair started slowly after the hosts chose to field but smoothly gathered momentum to dominate the Red Force’s bowlers, rattling off 142 off the first 23.3 overs before being parted.

Player Of The Match McCaskie, 28, appeared seemingly set for his second List A century, but holed out, agonisingly close to the edge of the boundary at long off, attempting to lift the seventh maximum of a breathtaking knock of 94 off 82 balls, including six fours. (WH)
