Man beaten with pipe after refusing to give money to stranger in NYC: NYPD
EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man was brutally attacked with a metal pipe after refusing to give money to a stranger in the East Village back in October, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect on Friday. The attack happened on Oct. 18 around 2:30 p.m. inside a building on First Avenue near East 13th Street.
The suspect approached the 60-year-old victim and asked him for money, police said. When the victim said he didn’t have any money, the suspect took a metal pipe out of his book bag and hit the victim in the head, according to the NYPD.
The suspect ran from the building and remains on the loose. The victim was taken to a hospital with a cut to the back of his head.
