"It was a tough way to lose, certainly with the type of senior class and talent that we've had in that class, and what they've done for this program has been historic and just really proud of each and every one of my players," Texas head coach Angela Kelly said. "Obviously, an overtime time loss is harder to swallow."

Amalia Villareal scored the first goal for Texas in the 33rd minute to equalize the match following Anthony's first goal, and then Holly Ward continued her great play with a match-tying goal in the 79th minute. That knotted it at 2-2 and eventually sent the match to extra time.

Each goalkeeper notched five saves and Texas held a slim advantage in shots 17-16. The Spartans were caught offside seven times and Texas had eight corner kicks in the match.

Texas ends the season with a 17-4-2 record.
