Chris Woodward will rejoin Dodgers’ coaching staff

LOS ANGELES — Chris Woodward will rejoin the Dodgers’ coaching staff in 2025.

Woodward will replace Clayton McCullough as first base coach. McCullough left to become the Miami Marlins’ manager.

Woodward, 48, was a member of Dave Roberts’ original coaching staff when Roberts became Dodgers manager in 2016. Woodward served as the third base coach until leaving to become the Texas Rangers’ manager in 2019.

The Rangers were 211-287 under Woodward, who was fired midseason in 2022. He returned to the Dodgers’ organization as a senior advisor in player development in 2023.

“We are thrilled to have Chris Woodward back on the coaching staff,” Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said in a statement announcing the change. “He has been a staple to this organization, helping us to back-to-back NL pennants (in 2017 and 2018) and was a key cog to our success last season.”

Woodward will take over McCullough’s responsibilities in baserunning as well as working with the team’s infielders. Third base coach Dino Ebel will shift from working with the infielders to working with the outfielders.
