Red Sox Rumors: Monster Offseason Outcome ‘Not Unrealistic’

It’s starting to get believable.

The Red Sox could very well go out and spend big over the next few months.

Boston might be having the best offseason of any team thus far, because even though there hasn’t been a single high-priority free agent to come off the board, the organization clearly wants to find itself back in contention. The Red Sox have conveyed that message well enough to convince those in the know that they’ll be going big-game hunting.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan believes it, and shared some exciting insight on ESPN’s latest episode of “Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney” podcast.

“They have the opportunity and ability to do that (add a frontline starter or two),” Passan said. “They could very easily go and sign Max Fried and then trade for Garrett Crochet. That is not an unrealistic possibility.”

The Red Sox have been connected to not only Fried and Crochet, but other frontline starters like Corbin Burnes, Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki — as well as the biggest fish in the pond, Juan Soto. It’s an exciting time to be a baseball fan in Boston.
