Tottenham handed boost regarding Luka Vuskovic arrival date
Spurs have a highly rated Croatian teenager joining the club in 2025, but Luka Vuskovic may be able to link up with Tottenham’s senior team even earlier than first thought.
Luka Vuskovic is having a very promising loan
Luka Vuskovic’s journey to Tottenham Hotspur was diverted via a season-long loan to Juliper Pro side, Westerlo FC. He is still technically a Hadjuk Split player, but will be joining Tottenham at the end of his loan.
The loan has been a huge success with Vuskovic being one of Westerlo’s starting centre backs. He has even managed to tally 4 goals and an assist from his 14 appearances, which is an excellent return for any centre-back, especially one so young.
Now, Spurs look to benefit again, with Vuskovic to arrive at Tottenham slightly earlier than the club expected.
Croatia bow out of U-21 Euro qualifiers
Croatia’s U-21 team have failed to qualify for next summer’s U-21 Euros. Vuskovic featured in a penalty shootout loss against Georgia in a playoff match which saw qualification slip between Croatia’s fingers.
It was a two-legged tie, where Croatia lost the away leg 1-0. On Tuesday 19th, Croatia scored a 93rd-minute goal to make the score 3-2, forcing extra time. Extra time was goalless which led to the deciding penalty shootout.
The U-21 Euros is set to run from June 11 – June 28th 2025. With Croatia no longer involved, Vuskovic will be able to join Tottenham in early July at the start of preseason without requiring further rest after the international tournament (FootballLondon).
First-team pre-season is invaluable for Luka Vuskovic
While Vuskovic is likely disappointed at not being able to represent his country, being available from the start of preseason will benefit him far more.
We saw earlier this year with the preseason performances from Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall that the opportunity to play in front of Ange is essential and can even alter the club’s transfer approach.
Even if Postecoglou decides Vuskovic is not yet ready to contribute to the first-team in the Premier League, finding that out early in the summer will put Tottenham in a stronger position going into the season.
