Hampton Addition
Hampton Addition is a minimal interior located in Dallas, Texas, with architecture designed by Object & Architecture, with interiors in collaboration with Kirstie Carrizales. Originally a dark, segmented stone bungalow with a complex 90s addition, the home’s layout hindered the natural connection to its scenic surroundings. Design firm O&A was brought in to reimagine the space, creating an open floor plan that invites natural light and integrates views of the landscape, while restoring the home’s original character. Working closely with the homeowners—a mother and daughter—O&A crafted bright, shared living areas and reconfigured existing spaces to add new, purpose-driven rooms. These include a guest bathroom with a moody atmosphere, individual bedroom suites, and a warm material palette that complements the tranquility of the setting.
The main living, dining, and kitchen area, anchored by a long island, opens directly onto the rear patio through double doors. The island’s deep red tile cladding and thick granite countertop add texture and contrast to the white oak cabinetry. A large Italian marble dining table, positioned near expansive windows, frames views of the lush front yard. The mother’s suite occupies the first floor, while the daughter’s suite spans the entire second level in a loft-style space. A new, 105-square-foot addition on the second floor transformed a previously cramped area into a serene bathroom retreat, elevated among the tree canopy. With no doors separating the loft space, sunlight filters through the bedroom, bathroom, and closet, creating an airy, cohesive environment throughout the day.
