The focus has switched back to the Premier League following the international break with Tottenham having had to lick their wounds following the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town for nearly a fortnight.

Matches do not come much more difficult than a visit to the home of the Premier League champions and if Ange Postecoglou’s side are to return to winning ways, they’ll have to do so without some of their first-choice players.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both unavailable through injury, along with the likes of Richarlison and Wilson Odobert, while Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended.

Which Spurs players are involved against Man City?

Among the Tottenham players spotted arriving at the Etihad Stadium were Lucas Bergvall, Heung-min Son, Fraser Forster, Archie Gray, James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie, Timo Werner, Gugliemo Vicario and Pedro Porro.

Tottenham need to show spirit and resolve

Going to City with your strongest starting eleven and hoping for a result is not exactly easy, to try to do so with a makeshift side including a central defensive pairing which is lacking in pace will be a massive task.

Spurs have 10 points fewer than at this stage last season despite having both scored and conceded exactly the same number of goals: 23 and 13 respectively.

Kick-off is at 5:30pm BST, with the game set to be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports.
