Oregon beach resort named Good Housekeeping travel award winner
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Good Housekeeping released a list of its 2025 Family Travel Awards winners — naming one Oregon resort that's "a rock star in every way."
The awards included a list of the best beach resorts in the U.S. and around the world, from Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine, and the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, Mexico to the Maxx Royal Bodrum Resort in Golturkbuku, Turkey.
But the Pacific Northwest also got a shoutout, naming the SurfSand Resort in Cannon Beach among the best resorts for family travel.
The award comes after the resort completed a $12 million renovation in June, including updates to beachfront rooms, an indoor pool, and seasonal activities like s’mores bonfires.
“We are delighted to receive this honor from Good Housekeeping,” said Mark Hemmer, president of Vesta Hospitality, which runs SurfSand Resort. “Our goal is to be more than a hotel—to be a beloved part of our guests’ memories, with thoughtful touches and activities that truly bring families together.”
Good Housekeeping highlighted the resort's beachfront location, which is also steps away from Haystack Rock, along with the resort's on-site activities from sand dollar hunts to hot dog roasts.
“The location is magic,” said Good Housekeeping's reviewer, who recommends booking the "Haystack Room" for views of the "235-foot-tall wonder."
