Here’s how debuting 49ers quarterbacks have fared under Kyle Shanahan

Brandon Allen, who will start Sunday’s 49ers game at Green Bay in place of the injured Brock Purdy, will become the seventh different quarterback to start for coach Kyle Shanahan since he took over as head coach of the 49ers in 2017.

The 49ers (5-5) visit the Green Bay Packers (7-3) Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Here’s a look at how the previous six quarterbacks fared in their first starts with the 49ers under Shanahan:

Brian Hoyer, Sept. 10, 2017: In Shanahan’s first game as 49ers head coach, Hoyer was 24 of 35 for 193 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in a 23-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers at Levi’s Stadium.

C.J. Beathard, Sept. 22, 2017: Beathard took over as the starter after Hoyer was injured the previous week. He was 22 of 38 for 235 yards and absorbed six sacks in a 40-10 loss to Dallas at Levi’s Stadium.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Dec. 3, 2017: Acquired in a Halloween trade from New England, Garoppolo was 26 of 37 for 293 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in a 15-14 road win against Chicago. Garopplo went 5-0 to finish the season and earned a $137.5 million contract.

Nick Mullens, Nov. 1, 2018: After having not played a down, Mullens was nearly perfect against a poor Raiders team. He was 16 of 22 for 262 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-3 win by the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

Trey Lance, Oct. 10, 2021: The No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft, Lance took over for the injured Garoppolo and was 15 of 29 for 192 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in a 17-10 road loss to Arizona. He rushed 16 times for 89 yards.

Brock Purdy, Dec. 11, 2022: Purdy emerged from the bench after Garoppolo broke an ankle and finished off a win against Miami, then in his first start the following week beat Tom Brady at Levi’s Stadium. Purdy was 16 of 21 for 185 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
