Former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer sold to Punjab Kings for a massive price of Rs 26.75 crore, the second highest-ever bid after Rishabh Pant in the history of the tournament in the IPL 2025 Auction at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah on Sunday.
All the teams were running behind the star batter, Punjab Kings won the bid after a stunning bid. A video of Shreyas Iyer’s bidding war has surfaced on social media from start to end, where the prices got high from 2 crore to 26.75 crore. It was a wonderful display by the IPL franchises, many fans think that the bid was unexpected.

Base bidding price:
₹2 crore is the highest base price for a player in the IPL 2025 mega auction with 81 players choosing to be in the top bracket. There are two marquee sets too, consisting of seven Indian players.
Marquee Set 1: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc
Marquee Set 2: KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
A total of 577 names will be up for auction for 204 slots to fill. A total of ₹641.5 crores are in the kitty of 10 teams combined with Punjab Kings having the highest purse of ₹110.5 crore.
