Race raises funds to help provide meals for New Yorkers in need
CENTRAL PARK (PIX11) – Runners took to Central Park for a four-mile dash early Sunday morning as part of the annual Race to Deliver event.
The race brings together the New York Roadrunners and the non-profit organization God’s Love We Deliver to help New Yorkers in need.
The four-mile race benefits God’s Love We Deliver which works to bring nutritious meals to homebound New Yorkers. This year marks the 31st race to benefit the New York-based non-profit.
God’s Love We Deliver was founded in 1986 and within the last year, delivered more than 3.3 million medically tailored meals to nearly 11,000 individuals. With the holidays just around the corner, the organization expects to serve more than 5 million meals to people in need.
Every meal recipient will also get a companion meal so that they can share the holidays with a loved one.
