Five top tips for making your own front-door wreath this Christmas

Christmas wreaths can cost upwards of £20 on the high street, but you can easily create a stunning, budget-friendly version at home.
Here, we show you how . . .
BARGAIN BASE: The base is the foundation of your wreath, but there’s no need to splurge.
Poundland sells metal ring bases for just 50p, but you can also make your own.
A wire hanger can be bent into a circular shape, or you could cut a sturdy cardboard box into a large ring shape.
GO GREEN: Natural greenery is the key to a simple and cost-effective way to make your wreath look lush.
Clip pine branches, holly or ivy from your garden and you could also turn a family forest walk into a fun treasure hunt to gather fallen pine cones, acorns and other natural bits to add texture.
FRUIT FANCIES: A cheap way to add decorations to your wreath is to use items you already have in the kitchen.
Use your air fryer to dehydrate orange or apple slices and raid the cupboard for cinnamon sticks, which can add a lovely hint of festive fragrance to your home-made design.
BRIGHT STUFF: Repurpose small baubles and leftover ribbon from last year’s decorations box. Use old ribbon to make bows for added charm.
If you’re after something extra, The Range sells sprigs of faux berries for just 80p per pack — perfect for adding a pop of colour.
BUILD YOUR BASE: Separate your greenery into piles, then take three sprigs at a time and attach them to your base using floral wire, available for £3 at Hobbycraft.
Once your greenery is securely in place, attach wire to your fruit slices or cinnamon sticks and simply weave them through.
Finish with a long piece of ribbon at the top, which you can use to hang it up.
