Who Wants to Be A Millionaire viewers left baffled by ‘incorrect’ answer to Britain’s Got Talent question

VIEWERS watching Who Wants to Be A Millionaire have been left confused over a TV question that had two correct answers.

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire was only minutes in on ITV when it left viewers scratching their heads with a seemingly simple question.

ITV aired an episode of the quiz show with Jeremy Clarkson resuming his role as quiz master and being joined by Emily from Sheffield.

Emily had previously got to £2,000 and was resuming her bid to try and win £1m in the ITV show.

As she took her place in the hot seat once again, she was given a TV question to test her knowledge.

The question asked was “Which of these is the only person to have been a regular judge on both ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent‘?”

Four choices were given including Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell and Alesha Dixon.

Emily turned to the audience who gave their overwhelming vote for Alesha as the only judge to have appeared on both the BBC and ITV shows.

As she locked in Alesha Dixon, she was rewarded with it being the right answer and progressing up the leaderboard.

Yet it’s left viewers at home baffled, as Bruno Tonioli was also a correct answer as the dancer and choreographer was a longstanding judge on Strictly Come Dancing until 2019 when Anton du Beke took over.

Bruno joined Britain’s Got Talent in 2023, sitting next to Alesha Dixon who has also appeared on both shows.

Taking to social media, one viewer wrote: “Who wants to be a Millionaire Surely there are two answers to this question. Both Bruno and Alesha have been judges on both.”

Another viewer replied: “I just thought it was me thinking the same.”

A third added: “Literally just thought the same.”

Another shared: “You’re right, but it depends when the show was recorded. The announcer at the interval said all answers were right at the time of recording. I haven’t heard that qualification before.”

“At the very end in the credits. It Says year 2022. So it must have been recorded before Bruno was a BGT judge in 2023. It really confused me when Bruno wasn’t the answer,” added another.

The reason for Alesha being the correct answer was that the ITV episode was actually a rerun and filmed in 2022 for the broadcaster and before Bruno had joined BGT.

Who has won the jackpot on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has offered hundreds of hopeful contestants the chance to become millionaires, but there has only been a handful of lucky winners.

There have only been five real winners so far on the show as Charles Ingram, who was the third winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in 2001, had his claim to the prize thrown out because of cheating allegations.

The official winners are…

Judith Keppel

  • In 2000, garden designer Judith Keppel made quiz show history as she became the first ever winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Judith is also the only woman ever to have won the million-pound prize.

David Edwards

  • Former physics teacher David became the second contestant to win the top prize in April 2001. Following his success, Edwards went on to compete in both series of Are You an Egghead? in 2008 and 2009.

Robert Brydges

  • Oxford-educated banker Robert became the third Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? champion when he won the quiz show several moths after David in 2001. Robert has stayed out of the limelight since his win.

Pat Gibson

  • World champion Irish quiz player Pat won the show in 2004. Amazingly Pat had TWO of his lifelines still available for his final question, something no other winner has managed.

Ingram Wilcox

  • Ingram came close to losing on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2006 as he had used all his lifelines up at the £32,000 mark, but in a shocking twist he went on to scoop the jackpot.
