Millionaire decides to sell 174ft superyacht before stepping foot on it ‘because it’s too small & he wants a bigger one’
A MILLIONAIRE has put his 174ft superyacht up for sale despite never stepping aboard the vessel because it was reportedly too small.
Tommy Allen forked out a whopping £30million for the mega yacht, which he helped to custom build, but once he saw the finished project he was instantly left wanting more.
The founder and Director of Global Operations at Five Oceans Global Solutions claimed the huge yacht was too cramped for his family to live on board.
The creators were left in disbelief at the complaint after it was revealed that Tommy himself was believed to be apart of the process that helped decide on its size.
The superyacht, known as the Five Oceans by Allen after its owner, was supposed to host the Allen family on a three-year ocean bound mission.
But just weeks after it was finished Tommy put the luxury cruiser on the market for almost £1.6million less than what he had invested into the project.
The millionaire has still never stepped foot on his own creation despite it being handed to him in May 2024.
Its new owner is set to get a state-of-the-art vessel which has been described as a versatile, robust and efficient dream.
Inside it features four luxury suites for up to eight guests as well as cabins for up to 11 crew members.
A 3,300sqft deck is also available for the travellers to explore out on the ocean.
The yacht can even reach a top speed of up to 21 knots.
Tommy first hoped to use the yacht as a scientific research hub when he goes off to sea exploring with his family and friends.
Chief builder Jan van Hogerwou described the use of the yacht as a “truly exciting” idea, earlier this year:
He said: “Five Oceans will be used to research life below the surface of our oceans.
“A topic and cause central to Mr. Allen’s operations and an important vision that we are honoured to be contributing to with this Yacht Support platform.
“Seeing her out in the open and ready for the final stages of her build before her delivery is the start of something truly exciting.”
Despite selling the giant-sized yacht leaving an even bigger hole in his pocket, Tommy has decided to make another splash in the superyacht world by creating an even bigger boat.
He has commissioned Damen Yachting – who also worked on the first one – to create a new yacht which is 23ft bigger.
The latest flashy vessel is set to have two and a half times more volume than the Five Oceans by Allen – hopefully making it spacious enough for the family.
A price tag hasn’t been placed on the recommissioned yacht yet but it is expected to tip the scales at over £30million once again.
It comes as a luxurious superyacht, named Feadship One, has been put on the market for an eye-watering £142 million.
This five-star vessel with its lavish additions is a far cry from your average boat with it designed to look like a floating New York City opulent hotel.
The 248ft vessel will be ready for delivery in early 2025 to its lucky buyer.
Elsewhere, a £150 million yacht inspired by a shark is also up for grabs.
The state-of-the-art Feadship Concept C features a glass swimming pool and a “flying” viewing deck where shipmates can recreate the iconic Titanic pose.
Other luxury features include a spa, a gym, a bar, and five bedrooms.
Another ultra-luxury megayacht has been designed like a military-style aircraft carrier.
It promises to be a sheikh’s paradise at sea as ambitious plans for the “Floating Dubai” vessel include an enormous pool deck, a relaxing spa and not one, but two enormous helipads on board.
Christened the UAE One, the mega yacht was designed by Milan-based Enzo Manca, who has promised to make it the flagship vessel of the United Arab Emirates.
