Where to run before you feast: Turkey Trots in central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) - Whether you're starting a family tradition or want to get some exercise in before eating a Thanksgiving feast, several towns and cities are holding turkey trots, both in-person and virtually. Below is a list of locations holding holiday 5k events in central Ohio.

Bexley Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • St. Alban’s Bexley Turkey Trot is back for its 10th anniversary. A 5k run, 2k walk and 100 yard "Tot Trot" are offered this year. Funds raised will benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

Circleville Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • Start your Thanksgiving Day with a fun 5k walk/run through the City of Circleville. The race will start at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church at 129 W. Mound St. The event will benefit the Pickaway County Fresh Produce Market.

Columbus Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • Features both a 5-mile or 2.8-mile course, both starting at 9 a.m., plus a special "Dick's Tot Trot" for kids ages 9 and under at 8:30 a.m. The event benefits Easterseals of Central and Southeast Ohio.

Coshocton Turkey Trot 5k Run and Walk

Nov. 28 at 8 a.m.

  • The 10th annual race will kick off at Lake Park Complex where participants can run or walk the 5k.

Delaware Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 8:30 a.m.

  • Offers a 3.1-mile course, a 2-mile walk, and a kids race with 100% of proceeds supporting the Autism Society of Central Ohio. Packet pickup is spaced out over three days the week of the race.

Flying Feather Four Miler in Dublin

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • The Flying Feather Four Miler returns to the Club at Corazon on Thanksgiving Day and takes you on a beautiful 4-mile tour of the Dublin community. The event benefits the 2nd & 7 organization.

Grove City Thanksgiving Wattle

Nov. 28 at 8:30 a.m.

  • The 13th annual event is back with its Turkey Leg 100-meter run, 5k run/walk, and 10-mile Rotisserie Roll Bike Ride. Participants will receive a pumpkin pie at the finish line as well.

Groveport Eye on the Pie 5K Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • Held at Groveport Park, participants will run three laps around a one-mile course. Donations accepted will support the Groveport Madison Athletic Department and Athletes.

Lancaster Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9:15 a.m.

  • Run or walk anywhere virtually from 5k, 5 miles or kids run. There are several mapped out routes for participants in the area.

Officer Larry R. Cox Turkey Trot in Chillicothe

Nov. 29 at 9 a.m.

  • The annual event includes its 5k run and fun walk.

Powell Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • The 4-mile race will be timed, with prizes for the top three male and female finishers. Donations and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Bridgeway Academy.

Standardized Brewing Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • One mile and 5k races are offered, along with a 100-meter kid dash at 8:55 a.m. The events will be held at 5920 Evans Farm Drive in Lewis Center and they are free.

St. Benedict School Turkey Trot in Cambridge

Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

  • Start or continue a family tradition and join in on the annual 5k run and walk in Cambridge. All proceeds will directly benefit the students of St. Benedict School.

Worthington Turkey Trot

Nov. 28 at 7:45 a.m.

  • Embrace the holiday spirit with Burn Boot Camp Worthington’s first-ever Turkey Trot 5K and Little Gobblers Kids Fun Run. The races kick off at 406 E. Wilson Bridge Rd.

Columbus Hungry Turkey Trot

Nov. 30 at 8:30 a.m.

  • 5k, 10k, and 1/3 Marathon and kids run where the races will take place right behind COSI at Genoa Park.
