Meet Priyansh Arya, who was sold for BIG Rs 3.8 crore to Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 Mega Auction
New Delhi: Delhi batter Priyansh Arya made a standout impression during the IPL Mega Auction on Day 2 at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah on Monday.
Starting with a base price of Rs 30 lakh, the left-handed Priyansh Arya saw his value soar to Rs 3.8 crore as Punjab Kings secured the 23-year-old, overcoming competition from Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Arya enjoyed a sensational run in the Delhi Premier League in September, topping the batting charts with over 600 runs in just 10 games. Despite his impressive form, he has played only 11 T20 matches in his career so far.
On Saturday, Priyansh kickstarted Delhi’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign on November 23 with a blistering 43-ball 102 against Uttar Pradesh at Wankhede Stadium. His explosive knock included 10 sixes and five fours, as he took on a formidable attack featuring Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shivam Mavi, and Piyush Chawla.
Representing South Delhi Superstarz, Arya made headlines in the Delhi Premier League 2024 by hitting six sixes in an over during a match against North Delhi Strikers. His explosive batting helped his team post a record score of 308/5 in 20 overs.
Arya was Delhi’s highest run-scorer in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, amassing 222 runs in seven innings at an impressive strike rate of 166.91. Despite his strong performance, he went unsold in the IPL auction at that time.
