Sex Education actor accused of offences against women and children tells court he did nothing inappropriate

AN actor accused of multiple sex offences against women and children told a court he did nothing sexually inappropriate.

Alexander Westwood, 24, who appeared in Netflix drama Sex Education, denied sexually assaulting one girl over a seven-year period.

Jurors heard how he wrote to one alleged victim: “I am sorry for acting in a predatory way.”

Westwood, of Albrighton, Shrops, said his dad made him write it and he did not mean “predatory in a sexual way”.

Westwood, who also appeared in BBC’s Doctors, also denied sexually abusing a pupil in one of his acting lessons.

He told Wolverhampton crown court: “I did make an inappropriate comment, but it was not sexual.”

Prosecutor Andrew Wallace said: “He wrote letters, in his own words, describing himself as a predatory.

“He wrote to his victim ‘first and foremost I apologise’ now he is accusing her of being a liar.

“He continued ‘I apologise for being so irresponsible inconsiderate. I apologise for everything, I really do. I cannot imagine the effect it must have had on you.”

He denies all 26 charges faced, including several counts of rape.

The trial continues.
