Turkey scales down $23 bln F-16 jet deal with US, minister says

Turkey scaled back its F-16 deal with the US. It will buy 40 new F-16 Block 70 Viper jets. Turkey decided against purchasing 79 modernization kits. Its domestic aerospace industry will handle the upgrades. The F-16 purchase will cost Turkey around $7 billion. Turkey still wants to rejoin the F-35 program and buy 40 F-35 jets.
